You mentioned you have a heat lamp somewhere else - can you go grab that tomorrow morning and try setting that up instead of this heater? Also see about getting a thermometer and much larger box plus some sort of secure-but-ventilated top for the box (you may need to make one) because in about a week you will have chicks running around on the floor without something to keep them in. 8 chicks will need at least 4 sq ft of floor space by 2 weeks old, 8 sq ft by 4 weeks. Do you have a coop set up?

I'm confused as to if these are yours or your parents, but if they're your family's then they need to help you with getting this set up, if they're hoping for eggs later on.

They’re hoping they lay eggs. So yeah iguess I gotta make a coop for them. Mine supposedly. How do they expect me a teen to pay when I’m young they wont let me borrow money or stuff 🤦🏻‍♀️.

89 should be fine.

Sit down and have a serious talk with your family - in short term you need bigger, secured brooder and a handle on the temperatures inside it. Beyond that, you will need a coop ready for move in in about 4-6 weeks, depending on your outside temperatures.

I’ll try tomorrow is there anything I can do or more advice I’m new.

Ok. Do you have chick feed? With water, a jar lid can work. There is a risk they will fall over in it and drown so you have to be careful.
Yep did that in the morning. Well i guess they did bought a bag of chick feed since it had a coupon you know how parents are when they see coupon of a expensive item .

This article has a lot of basic brooding info so give it a read: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/brooding-chicks-the-first-6-weeks.74640/

Otherwise just work on your family with the rest of the stuff. Show them the article above if that helps explain things. Chicks aren't hard to take care of but they are temperature sensitive when young, and they grow SUPER fast, which is why I already mentioned planning for a coop if you don't have one.
