Hi all!
So we got some baby chicks on Sunday and everything has been going great so far! They are about 5 days old now. Just had a few questions concerning gender identification and pasting up. Also kinda wanted to show my babies off...

Here is our fluffy little Blue Ameraucana named Pom-Pom (or just Pom!)

This is our Lavender Orpington. I feel like it might be a boy... it seems to have a more prominent comb, it’s also bigger and more aggressive. Any gender guesses?

Our Blue Jersey Giant Ruth.

Clementine the Light Brahma. She seems to be the only one pasting up, and it’s only underneath her vent, not blocking it. She can still poop and eats and drinks just fine, but her poops appear to be more watery. Any ideas?

The Barred Rock. Not sure on this one... it is more aggressive and has a more prominent comb, but is really small. Gender?

My favorite, Duchess or Dutchy for short. She is so sweet. She’s a Mille Fleur Belgian d’uccle.

You'll probably have to wait a little while until you can identify the chicks' gender. You can start to tell when they grow their adult feathers, and sometimes you can guess by their behavior, but usually only time will tell. About the one with the pasty butt, try adding some vitamins in their water and make sure you take a warm washcloth and clean her bottom. Where did you get them?

Ok thanks! I’ll wait until they are older on their gender. I add Apple cider vinegar to their water, should I add some other things? I’m also wiping her bum daily and checking to make sure it’s not covering her vent. I got them from a breeder in the okanagan called Wild Acres. It’s a privately run heritage breeder. They have some really nice quality birds!

oh cool! I was wondering about it because you had multiple breeds, so I thought you might have bought them online. I've actually never tried apple cider vinegar in the water. I always put vitamins in my chickens' water, just because it's good for them but you don't have to.

Yeah they have like 20 different chicken breeds available, plus geese, ducks and turkeys. Really great quality stock and awesome personalities to the birds!

ACV seems to be working just fine, they are full of energy and are all pooping, it’s just little Clementine that is having some poop on her butt fluff. She’s still pooping though, so I’m happy with that!
