Some of my 1 wk/old chicks have a liquid brown poop

OK thanks all........

I am heading to town this am to pick up some meds. Will treat the chicks by noon today. All others seem healthy for now. But I dont want to risk it.

So just to follow up.....

I give them aprox. 2.3ml of the 9.6% oral liquid per qt of cold water with no vitamins added for how many days? Chicks are about 2wks old now.

I believe the package says 5 days. Read what it says. It also has different doses for severity. Youre gonna have to go with your gut on that one. Theres and old school guy on here who says to double the dose for one day then normal for the next 3, but I dont want to wrap you around the axle with it. Read the packaging and go with your gut. Thats my advise. Im not an expert, fyi, but I did have a bird go thru this. I went with the severe dose since I had lost a bird the day before. The rest were on it for 5 days. She doesnt seem to be responding well. Maybe it was a misdiagnosis or perhaps shes just not strong enough anymore. I dont know. She perked up quick at first, but I think it may just be a matter of time for her. Theyre off the corid now. Like a mother in the wild, there comes a point when you have to move on and care for the other little ones. I dont want the rest to continue having thiamin not metabolizing in their bodies, so. Im just keeping my fingers crossed for her now.

Perhaps someone else will chime in.

wish you the best with it

Well I will run 2.4ml per qt for 5 days then. All remaining birds are fine right now but this is to remove any doubt about a incubation period from the chicks I culled infecting these birds. Why risk 20 chicks?

Thanks everyone

After 24hrs on the cocci meds the chicks appetites have tripled. They were eating 1/3rd of a trough per day and now they are eating more then 1 trough of pellets per day. Seem to have way more energy and sleep less as well. Poop seems more solid and rope like.
