If only I had more room here! LOL

I just love my barred rocks. Cyn, youre crew is gorgeous. My hens that are laying now are from your eggs from earlier this year. In fact Ive got some in the incubator...cant wait.

Kath, I'm so glad you're pleased with them! They are sweet birds, aren't they? I'm wondering if I need a third rooster with this big laying flock, though. I was counting on Zane, but now, since he probably wont ever be back with the main flock, I dont know if 2 roosters is enough for over 40 hens. Maybe since they're BRs, at least the BR girls will be mated, birds of a feather and all that, LOL. Guess I could put my Delaware boy in there with them and when I need pure eggs, I could remove him to another coop. Well, I'll figure it out.

Thank you all for the compliments. The barring is interesting, Mahonri. The further I get from hatchery stock, the better it gets. Some of the older girls are from my friend Kate's birds-her late rooster sired them and he was a McMurray boy. My Lexie is from Ideal and is almost 3 yrs old now. She has fair barring, but it's really lighter than most pullets and her body size is small for a standard BR. Hawkeye was supposedly from McMurray, but he and Lexie and mine from Kate's flock, have produced some wonderful chicks with barring better than the parents themselves.
I took other pics of some of the non barred kids, too. Here are a few-Carri, here's Nugget:
