Some of the flock

A silver laced Cochin sounds beautiful...

I rather like guineas because they ARE so odd looking...Goddess knows, if I got some I can hear the neighbours complaining already...
It was bad enough that they complained about my cockerel and crowing hen.

The female guinea called out all the time. The male only sounds off when alarmed. He's great at warning the flock of trouble.... you should see them all run for cover.

The ducks are quite loud when they see me come with water. I try to keep it changed out so it doesn't freeze up on them. My son refreshes it when I am at work. The ducks miss their kiddie pool this time of year.

The silkie roos make more racket then everybody else put together and sometimes I cringe when they sound off. They seem competitive... must be lil chicken syndrome..lol

I don't have chickens yet, but think I have pretty much decided on Wyandottes. There are so many pretty colors. I love the Brown Porcelain ones!

Porcelain will be hard to find in this country, if at all. Europe has sooooooooooo many colorations of the most popular breeds. I have such envy of them...lol.

My wyandottes are my close to being favorites right now. Nice meaty cold hardy bird, lays well and has a small comb. What more can a cold weather climate girl ask for!!!

I grew up in Minnesota Julie, so I know what you mean about the cold. But, where I am now I'm more concerned about them surviving heat.

I actually did find a hatchery that has Lavender and Brown Porcelain Wyandottes. It's a smaller privately owned hatchery and he does not ship chicks, only eggs. However, he's an 8 hour drive from me, that I'd be willing to make when I'm ready for chicks.

Really............. wow, I had no idea. Does this person have a website ?? I'd love to see pics of the birds. Ok, I confess I would like to order some eggs too.....lol. Lavender would be too hard to resist for me. Too much like blue

Thanks for sharing that info Pelican49. A website I plan on keeping for the future.

I'm confused. It looks like his in North Devon, as in UK. The website says he ships to mainland UK only...I had to check it out too because I had always heard that it was impossible to find porcelain in this country.
