I have noticed late hatchers tend to have really bad vigor and survivability issues. I don't do anything different with them than I would the others but they often have issues coming out of the egg.I picked up 65+ eggs from the last week or so today, I will set them and see if any start to develop. I really don't like late hatch chicks as they are so hard to get through the winter.
Do you have a broody chicken? It would increase your odds if the eggs are fertilized.Good news! I talked to the guy again today and he said he has 4 eggs he will be bringing them over tomorrow. I sure am exited
I agree with that in incubated eggs but those hatched out under a broody rarely have problems.I have noticed late hatchers tend to have really bad vigor and survivability issues. I don't do anything different with them than I would the others but they often have issues coming out of the egg.
I have also noticed that. I actually have 4 broody hens. But 2 are raising chicks and the other 2 are in the main coop and constantly switch nest boxes so I have a feeling if I gave them the peafowl eggs they would be crushed or not sat on consistently.Do you have a broody chicken? Look what I just got
LOL. You are way too antsy, if they are any good you won't be able to see anything for at least six days. We don't bother for at least ten days or longer.Today is day 4 for the eggs. Should I candle them today or wait longer?
