Shooting at an occupied car is shooting at someone.

Shooting at an empty car is destruction of property. Shooting at an occupied car can be considered, assault, attempted murder or murder. Sure we can "what if" all day on different circumstances.

I wish these idiots would have some empathy (maybe a little knowledge, too, but dare I hope?) and not dump chickens on other people, possibly bringing disease into a healthy flock. If someone dumped a bird here, it would be euthanized immediately, but I'd be so scared till I knew it didn't bring in something bad to my own birds.

I would agree with Chickens 246 that shooting someone simply trespassing will get you put in jail for manslaughter or 2nd degree murder. That being said if as a landowner someone is on your property and you go out with the intent of protecting your property from theft and the thief comes at you with with person, car, gun, knife, hammer etc. and you drop them in their tracks you are probably justified in most states.

As long as you are on your own property and/or are in fear for your life!!!!!! BANG!!!!! I was told by a cop to not just shoot once! That shows control. There is no way it's legal to shoot a person for trespassing. The use of lethal force against a human can only be used in intimate danger.

Strange animals showing up would be worrisome. Be it dogs, cats, or chickens. Who knows what it might have. I won't take my dogs to the dog park if they are not up on their shots, don't want them to catch anything, and don't want them to give anything to another dog. It works both ways.

As for dealing with tresspassers...in Florida it's called the Castle Doctrine, if you, your family, or your property is theatened deadly force is allowed with imunity from both criminal and civil prosicution. But each state is different and you should use common sense.
