Other 'useless' pets (Useless meaning they are more decoration than anything else):
Most, if not all, fish in fish tanks.
Cockroaches, tarantulas and scorpions.
A majority of lizards and frogs.
Most pet turtles and tortoises spend their lives doing nothing.
Plenty of cats might as well be furniture.
Small birds, and sadly a large number of parrots, are merely something to ogle at once in a while.
Many rabbits are fluffy pellet poopers.
Hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, guinea pigs, all sit in cages running wheels and are left ignored.

There are plenty of useless, stupid pets.

Why someone likes an animal and wants to own it really shouldn't come into question unless it can endanger their lives and the lives of others (i.e. venomous/poisonous animals, large, predatory animals like lions and bears, or animals that one is highly allergic to).
 
I know exactly what you mean. Everybody's just like, "chickens are so stupid!" I even got in a debate with this guy I know about it on Facebook. He said they had no feelings and no minds. I had some choice words to say to him (

) but I held myself back. His loss- not my problem if he's to blind to see the world.
 
I don't really get any negative comments,but I noticed that I am talking A LOT about the chicken *drama* going on to dh and family. I used to only talk like that about the kids.
 
Why do people call pets dumb animals? When I am dragging myself out to work at 0600 and look at the cats and the dog snoozing so comfortably I know who the dumb one is ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
So glad to see someone else local (I live in Wellsville) who is obsessed with chickens and everyone else thinks we are crazy!! My friends just don't get it either....of course everyone would like eggs once they start laying
