Some people have no clue about snow. Up date #33

My hubby once worked for Gate*** tech service. He took a call from a lady asking him to help her because her computer would not go online. This was back in the day, when dial-up was the only internet, and no cell phones. He asked her what the message was on the screen. She said, "How should I know? I'm on the pay phone down at the corner. That's why I bought a computer, I can talk to my family online, and not have to pay to have a telephone!"

I called to see about switching from cable to Dish Network and combining my bill. First call, got a good rate for 4 tv's and would save about 60 bucks on my bill. Told they guy I needed to discuss it with my DH first. I was told no problem just call back when ready. Called back 2 minutes later to schedule, was basically told everything the first guy told me was wrong and the bill would be more than what I was quoted. Hung up and called back immediately to get someone else, just for the heck of it. Third guy told me everything the last person told me was wrong. The bill would be even more then the last woman told me. So I would end up spending the same price that I'm already spending. Needless to say, I still have cable. Good thing it doesn't snow here 'cause there's no telling what they woulda said then.

Called DishNet today to tell them I didn't think the snow would be gone by this Fri. After the agent insisted I had an appointment for Friday I finally go through to him that it was the one I was trying to change. The best I could do was move it down a week. Will probably call again next week as well.

BTW, we've had DishNet since back when they first started. The trouble is that the guy who did the original installation is no longer doing it or I'd had him do the change over.

"Does it snow in India?"

Yes. It snows in the north west part of India, just like it snows in the north part of the United States. They have ski resorts, passes that close due to snow, and snow tires, and snow ploughs. Not everywhere in India, in the north west. However, those locations are very, very popular vacation spots and see a great many visitors from other parts of India. I doubt that any nationality in the world goes on vacations more than Indians.

And actually, most Indians are very well educated, learn English from their first years in school, and are very well aware of what snow is. Additionally, elephants are no longer the main form of transportation in India.

However, the conversation was very difficult for anyone to understand unless they understand the slang and jargon the person was using, and that's unlikely.

There is no guarantee that a call center is in India. It could be anywhere. It could even be in the US, even.

I can't understand people from Florida, either.
