One thing for sure about that poor hen, she ain't a dumb one. If she eats the grapes and turns away from the cucumbers she smarter and healthier than you know.

All I know is, if chickens are ANYTHING like humans food wise, DON"T give her too much food at one time. With humans, if a starving person eats a ton of food at the same time, it can kill them. This might be the same with chickens. Good luck!

I can't wait for a picture too....still no power. Lucky pecked my dog AND my little chicken "Extra" through her pen this AM....sassy!!!! She wants out! But I am going to hold off a couple more days. Based on her flying ability.....while it did serve her well in the past...I am going to have to clip a wing.

My fence is only four feet and I need Lucky to figure out that staying in the free range area is a good idea! I think she'll get it.

Finally, we have power! I let Lucky out with the girls for two hours last night. Took pictures! Lucky did OK. Chased the young chickens and got chased by the older ones. She doesn't walk right though. I don't think she's in pain....it's just with the missing toes it makes her gate unsteady. This AM I opened the door to her pen and asked her if she wanted to come out again...but she said, "No thanks, I'll stay here."

She wanted nothing to do with leaving her nice clean pen full of food......so I will bring her out for a couple of supervised hours again this evening. Hopefully she will adjust over time!! She can take as much time as she wants!!!

Where am I?

Look out for Dorothy, she's bossy!!!! I imagine Lucky will be built like Dorothy once she gains weight.

Good idea...don't look at Shirley..she's the boss of everyone! Wheezy the instigator looks on.

Lucy makes friends....sort of.

Sophia...hopefully she and Lucky will hang out...Sophia spends a lot of time inside eating crumbles.

Here's Lucky just hanging out by herself....hopefully she begin to bond with my other peeps soon enough!
