Bees have been in their hives for about 2 weeks now. Each hive has comb built up to about the 6th bar. And both hives are looking great! I only could get two pics before my camera started acting up so please enjoy!
How in the world do you start bee-keeping? my husband and I want to give it a try, but don't know much....anything to help bring the honeybees back!!!!
CCM, the best thing you could do is join a local beekeeping group or find someone local that would mentor you. And then dooo lots of reading and researching! I joined several forums....got a local mentor and now good friend...and just read as much as I could.
LOL Chickie....I have not been stung ONCE by either hive.
Did you start with top bar hives or did you switch to top bars from langstroth? I am wanting to get a couple of hives and am leaning more towards top bar but am still asking questions to help me decide.
Breezy I started with Topbars...they are built though to accept langstroth supers and the frames are also just the topbars from Lang hives. I'm also going to be setting up a Lang hive in June...it is going to be foundationless and I'm using a survivor stock Nuc to get it going.
