Some Raven Took away a 9 week old Chicken

Check your local law about "worrying livestock". You may be able to shoot it in this circumstance.

...Or dont bother looking it up.
You thought it was a crow.

Get a BB gun. Their quiet. If you have them circling your pens, they will kill more. Guarantee.

I didn’t think it was a crow, and a BB gun wont do the job for
s(-)!t. they are big ravens with lots of feathers. Have you ever shot a BB gun at anything bigger than a black bird. I can’t even kill a dove with one. I have shotguns and rifles and a pellet gun, but I can’t shoot them, I don’t want to get a Huge fine. It’s illegal and I have a very picky neighbor.

I just looked deep into this topic and was surprised to find out that ravens, and in fact most birds in general other than game birds, are protected by the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act (in the US). There are often clauses in these types of things for pest animals and permits they give out for the same reason. I know you don't wan to go that route, but I just had to share. This is the first I'm hearing of it.

Yeah, I called CDFW and they are a bunch of lazies. Nobody told me anything really, just kept saying, “look at the laws“, which I can’t really find that well, do you have a link?

We’ve shot nuisance ones and hung them on a pole by the haylage bales. Those “-$/6;@; birds will rip huge holes in the plastic for fun, and like to play “pick the eyeball” with newborn calves. Hanging one of their own there keeps them away pretty well. Not completely out of the yard, but away from the trouble spots. I’m not sure about legalities elsewhere though.

I sure would like to do it but I’m pretty sure it’s a big fine, I might just end up taking them out if they kill my lambs or goat kids or any of the larger poultry.

You can take out most animals if you can prove it was threatening domestic animals. I’m not aware of raven protection in this state, and I’m not an expert. But who’s gonna know? Just say it was a crow. I talked to animal control in my county, and this is what she told me.
