I got my chicks from TSC, and while some of them were sexed already, their sign said something along the lines of "Could be Breed X, Breed Y, or Breed Z." I didn't think to take a picture of their signs to narrow it down, and when I called the store, the man in the livestock department was less than helpful. All I asked was that he go over and read the signs in the certain bins to me, but he wouldn't. His reply? "Any experienced chicken farmer can tell you what they are." Well, that's fine and dandy, but I haven't had chickens since I was about 6, and there aren't many chicken farmers in the area...more cows than anything!

I think the chicks that look like this are the Rhode Island Reds. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

What could my little yellows be? I was thinking buff orpingtons or white leghorns, but then I saw a picture of some golden comets and thought, well......maybe!

I had to do the tummy picture, because they all have those little grey-ish line down their tummies.

I've also got these older chicks that are pretty feisty...they don't like to be held. I bought them from TSC when they were about three weeks old...makes me wish that the employees there would handle the chicks so they're used to people. I have no idea what kind of chicken these ones are...

Thanks in advance for the help!!! I wish I could sex these birds at this point, but that's for another thread and another time.

Oh, also, I have some chicks that were sold to me as black australorps. How can you tell the difference between the australorps and a barred rock chick?
One of the black chicks has white tips on his wings, which made me start thinking barred rock. But then when I google black australorps, I'm having trouble coming up with fuzzy chick pics...I get mostly older chicks with their feathers in.

It's too cute when their pedal their little necks to scratch!

This one was trying to do the hop, skip, jump, and flap. Just wasn't doing to well at it lol.

The red chicks look like Rhode Island Reds, the dark yellow ones look like Buff Orpingtons, the pale yellow ones look like White Rocks, and the black ones could either be Black Jersey Giants or Black Australorps.

I'm new but I have pretty much the same chicks. Someone might correct me but I think you've got rhode islands or mixes like cherry egger, production red. Then you've got red star. And last white leghorn.

Just saw the black ones, I'd say australorp. But I'm not sure. I have a black star doesn't look like yours.
