Thank you for the reply. She just started losing some feathers and it does look like the last molt. I just freaked out since the other 2 runners were not looking the same way. I am supplementing with oyster shells, mealworms and kale as well as whatever other veggies I have daily and have the girls eating laying pellets. I am hoping they are getting enough protein and calcium. I am regularly getting an egg from all 4 females for now but randomly I will only get 3 so maybe it is her randomly not laying since she is trying to molt???? I am still learning. I love the fawn and white runners. So cute.On my, that is not so bad! I had 2 that molted last late summer/fall. They looked so raggedy I thought for sure they were dying. They fell down a lot. They just collasped and laid down. Feathers everywhere. I have fawn and white too and they looked ridiclous! Don't worry. They probably won't lay eggs and I believe they need more protein to get through this stage.
I just looked out there and they are cuddling. Leonard is such a lover!!Yes tell Leonard to share the love![]()
I had 4 the same age and only 2 molted at once. I forgot to mention that earlier. Apparently there is not "schedule" on molting!Thank you for the reply. Remember when I said I was still learning? I did not know that, I just assumed they would all be around the same time schedule. I will breathe!I had 4 the same age and only 2 molted at once. I forgot to mention that earlier. Apparently there is not "schedule" on molting!
Thank you so much. These 5 I have are my first ducks ever and I do not want to mess up. I seriously love them each so much. They get mealworms every day but I have not given them dog food. I just so happen to have a dog and to come to think of it when they were little they would always try to get in her dog bowl. How did I miss that? This year they are all off kilter I had Runners molting in Dec. along with some Cochin bantams and my Muscovy just finished growing in their flight feathers. Never have any of my birds molted this time of year usually everyone is finished by late fall. Good source of protein dried meal worms dog or cat kibble as treats.
so far her skin does not look irritated or red but I will be checking on her regularly. Thank you!Take a good look at her skin.
