Somebody's butt has to hurt after this!!!

Last week i threw out 2 x 2kg boxes of weet bix ( Australian type of breakfast cereal) which the chickens devoured in no time flat. The next day i awoke to find one in a layer box that my girl 'big red' had left me, it was also a double yolker. Just lucky 'Big Red' has a body shape not too different from a dodo bird so she definately has the right size bum for delivering eggs like that without too much pain.

My RIR lays eggs that size, but never once has one been a double yolker.

hello thought i would say i think my golden is laying huge eggs i been getting some about every other day but not for sure witch one laying them oh by the way rocket raley the rooster is doing good i got from ya he gotten a lil bigger

I wish I had the good sense to have taken a picture, but I had an egg about the size of a lightbulb, and to my surprise it was a triple yolker!! It was the only one I had ever heard of. I asked my friend who has the same breed about it and he says I am telling tall tales.... I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of it..... the breed was a Golden Comet.

I have gotten about 7 eggs that size, they look the size of a duck egg.

I've had 2 that size in the last 2 days from one of my RIR's, maybe I'll get another today

I get probably three a week like that from my NHR. I only measured one though because it wouldn't fit in my egg carton. It was 4 1/2 inches long and was a double yoker. I thought with time that her body would settle down and get used to the laying process, but nope, she still lays the double yokers. Although, I've yet to see that size again which is probably best for her. Most eggs now are in the 3 inch range.
