Had my first CCL egg yesterday. It was smaller than the SS eggs! But definitely blue.

Right now the JGs chase the other ones but no real fights. And they don't seem to be hounding the pullets too much. Of course they are mounting them, but not excessively. I check the pullets daily for signs of overbreeding and they don't show anything. But that can change on a dime or so I've heard so I watch for it daily. Can I ask about your 5 males and 4 females. Do the males fight? Are the girls stressed? I'm asking because I have a higher male to female ratio and the kids aren't keen on culling the extra males. They are only 4 weeks old but so far everyone is getting along great. I have quail though not chickens.
Beautiful! Congrats. And don't worry, it will get bigger.Had my first CCL egg yesterday. It was smaller than the SS eggs! But definitely blue.
Oh, I know. I was a little surprised that the SS eggs were so small, but knew their eggs were not the largest to begin with. When I got the first CCL egg I thought "it's even smaller than the SS eggs!".Beautiful! Congrats. And don't worry, it will get bigger.
Lets see the CCL egg! And is the CCL 20/21 weeks now? I have 2 17 week CCLs and zero reddening of their tiny combs and no wattles at all. I feel like they are going to be late bloomers unless they go from tiny and pink to big and red over night lolHad my first CCL egg yesterday. It was smaller than the SS eggs! But definitely blue.

It’s so pretty! I’m sure it will get bigger. Everything I’ve read says medium egg! Is this your first CCL? I’m excited for my first! Good to know possibly only 4-6 weeks longer to wait! I have a 3rd CCL but I think she’s only around 2-2.5 months so she’s got a ways to go.View attachment 4191870
My CCLs are almost 21 weeks, and 2/3 could be the layer. One still has a bit of light pink in her comb.
The egg weighs just .96 oz. which makes it less than peewee! The SS eggs are right at peewee.
This oldest flock are my first chickens, and the SS is my oldest! She hatched all by her lonesome out of 6 (lesson learned there on Ebay eggs, get at least 10 or 12!). She is 148 days old, and the CCLs are 143-145 days. It’s so pretty! I’m sure it will get bigger. Everything I’ve read says medium egg! Is this your first CCL? I’m excited for my first! I'm going to try hatching maybe next year. I know my kids would love that experience. I'll prob get 12-18 eggs to account for prob 1/2 being roos! This oldest flock are my first chickens, and the SS is my oldest!
