So, I am new to chickens. I decided to purchase 6 chicks from a feed store here in Tampa. Well two of them I know for sure are RIR pullets, and the others were 2 St. Run Light (maybe dark mixed) Brahmas, and St. Run 2 Polish. They are about 7 wks old now. After spending days and days researching here and online elsewhere, I have decided with 95% certainty that besides the RIR's, they ARE ALL ROOS! I live in a fairly urban setting, and while I planned on maybe having one roo or so, I sure didn't want or need FOUR of them!
I am desperately trying to find my camera cord so I can post the pics I've taken. The Polish both have what appears to be pointed feathers (as opposed to the rounded ones that females are supposed to have) And the Brahmas are getting an awful lot of red to their combs.
I'm kinda freaking out. Should I attempt to rehome them now? Wait it out and see how it goes. I mean, 4 roos to TWO hens. That's just a disaster waiting to happen. I for sure want to get some more pullets though. But from this time forward... its nothing but sexed pullets for me.
Someone please console me. LOL
UPDATE: 8/12/09 There are now pics of these all here: http://picasaweb.google.com/skoshler/Chickens?authkey=Gv1sRgCJCfv-LpiJa8Wg&feat=directlink
