thanks.
yes, true, we don't know who did it.
however one of the two agents, and the one prospective buyer who saw the place both mentioned having turkeys of their own. And I do know the neighbors on 3 sides and the guy who runs his cows on the fourth, none have turkeys or seem to know anything about them... if it was any of them, I've lost any hope of ever trusting anyone again - these are kind, honest, helpful people, and as best I can judge, the seriously stand-up sort. and my landlord lives in town and is a masively city boy. so I'm pretty sure it wasn't him. aside from the RE folks, there hasn't been anyone else on the property in months, and no-one else who's ever mentioned knowing or having turkeys.
of course I can't prove it
wasn't any of them any more than I can prove it
was anyone else. can't prove that the turkeys never roam down to the fenceline, but I've never seen them do it. and one could easily get on the property if you didn't mind a little barbwire fence, to shop in advance (but then, why cut the lock?). we're pretty large properties out here, mostly 40 acres and up, but I suppose on a good day the gobbler's voice could carry. still you'd think if they took just the chocolate, they had to be looking for it. if they were just looking for turkeys, based on the sound, why not take any of the others? I've got an equally nice RP hen... I guess if I heard turkey sounds, I wouldn't be assuming they're chocolates, given how unlikely that is. so I'm inclined to thing it's someone who's seen her,
but there doesn't seem to be much to do about proving anything. X(
going with this theory, regardless: "dirty, stinking, immoral thief".
