SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS

yikes you guys now have me scared out of my wits.

my rir roo has tiny little black dots on his comb that look like tiny ticks/mites. is this fowl pox ? should i be worried? is there treatment? is it fatal? where can i get medication?how expensive is it? i guess i could go with out Christmas presents this year if it is expensive.

you guys have me scared now i love him he is my pet. if it is it will spread to my other chickens.

aww sorry to scare you! just trying to help you figure out what's going on with your chickens! :aww

I would say to keep the infected-looking chickens separated from the rest of the flock until this is figured out, so the disease won't spread(if it is spreadable)

don't panic now! If you look up "chicken illnesses" online, you can find lots of info.

oh that's so sweet of you to say that you would give up Christmas presents for your chickens.

You inspire me.

But lucky for you, I doubt it will cost that much. I'm wondering what stuff you can do to help with the fowl pox.
not sure about your rooster. please post a pic of him and these "black dots" if you can.

I just found this thread and it might help.

I also found out that if your hen in the second pic has Coryza, then Sulmet(may be at pet stores) can help with that.

There is info a/b both pox and coryza on these sites. Hope you get this cleared up fast!

Most likely those are blood spots on your roo, just where he got a few pecks or scrapes.
