We have 3 ducks and some bloody straw. This morning when I went in to change water i noticed some blood on the straw.... I watched each duck get in the water waiting to see a blood trail... but nothing.

Maybe one has a cut? What should I be looking for if its a blood feather?

Examine each bird carefully. A blood feather pulled you'll know, i had one yanked on one of my 9wk olds this past week, a bloody mess.. literately!

When I got home one of the ducks were dead. I examined his body and could only see a little blood on his tail feathers but there was a large puddle on the ground. Maybe he had some sort of internal issue?

That is possible. Only way to be sure is to get a necropsy done.

It was one of the ducklings... Mr. Pants. We couldn't find any bodily harm, just a little blood around its butt. When I went to clean out the coop there was blood puddles. I am heart broken, but glad the other duckling has bonded with our runner. . My son thought we needed to change the ducks batteries.

Your Runner hasn't tried to mate with the ducklings has he? just wondering if that could have been the cause. Aww children and the things they come up with.

Well that's good. since you said there was blood coming from the vent I was worried maybe he had tried to mate with her/him. Have you ever figured out what happened?
