Something coming out of vent (graphic pic)

That is surprising! I would have expected her to pick up after expelling a shell less egg even if it was only a temporary improvement! I am so sorry. :hugs
I too would be interested to read the result of a necropsy. I am wondering if it might be Fatty Liver Haemorrhagic Syndrome. That can lead to laying issues and death.

Got the necropsy results! Missed them in my inbox somehow last month, but I called and got them re-sent. I'm attaching the medical report for anyone interested. I'm not a vet and the report is pretty jargony, but it appears she had an infection in her reproductive tract - swollen fallopian tubes and coelomitis. If anyone has any other insight about the results I'd love to hear it!

It also appears the liver swab came back with E Coli. Is this something I should be worried about/treat in my other birds?

I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing the results of your necrospy.

I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts. I am not an expert, nor a vet, but reading the report, your hen had Salpingitis which is an inflammation of the oviduct.
Salpingitis is also known as "Lash Egg" the infection causes layers of pus like accumulation in the oviduct, sometimes a bird lays an "egg" that has multiple layers of "yuck". There is no cure for this condition.
Here's more detailed reading for you:

My ~17 month Golden laced Wyandotte took a quick downhill turn today - was fine this afternoon then this evening wasn't roosting, and was extremely lethargic (she usually wakes up and jumps down when I go to put them up at night). She wouldn't walk, and kept falling asleep. She appeared to have runny yellow feces around a swollen vent, so I thought it could be vent gleet. I gave her a 20 min epson salt bath, and then after was going to further inspect her vent and noticed there was actually something coming OUT of her vent. It looks like an anatomical thing, but doesn't look like a prolapse, or anything I could imagine popping out from that area! HELP! Anyone know what this is? Push it back in, or pull it out??

Looks like what they call a lash egg, but not sure. I think they can cause an internal infection.
