Oh no! Im so sorry! What happened?I come here now to complain of my own fishtanks woes. My reef tank has suddenly gotten out of whack. We figured out the problem finally, and it looks like everyone is going to survive. But there are many, many water changes in my futurePity me and my pruny fingers

The alkalinity got way too high. Not 100% sure how but life has been crazy and we haven't been as on top of maintenance as normal so may be that was all it was. And then yesterday after we did another water change to help fix things, we discovered the reef store had put the wrong type of water in one of our containers and we had just dropped the salinity in the already fragile tankOh no! Im so sorry! What happened?
My ph went totally wonky in my 55g about a year ago. I lost 9? fish total. Never figured it out.
It took us two hours of gradual additions to get the salinity back to where it should be without further shocking everyone.
That really sucks! Good to hear things are perking up thoughThe alkalinity got way too high. The good news is that fish and inverts seem just fine, thank heavens. I was afraid our torch coral was too far gone to save but it started perking up today. Fingers crossed a few more daily water changes will get everything back in check.

Still, though, thats a lot.
I chose to get Siamese Flying Fox and a female betta instead. It seems Im not the only one losing fish from what I heard while there today. I think they need to have a stern conversation with their supplier, Segrest Farms in FL. I hate ordering through the mail due to shipping cost and just the general stress it puts on the fish, but the only other fish store by me doesn't carry specialty fish that Im interested in. They mainly have your basics. I have one other one in my area but I have no idea what hes doing. I do know he doesnt plan on having walkins anytime soon but also doesn't list his fish on his website, just the shrimp, and they're expensive I am so sorry about all of your losses. That is so frustrating and sadIck! Really!? The other clown also died this morning. Something tells me I shouldn't go back there. But now Im out of fish stores, exceptPetco

Thanks. Its my own fault because I put them into my tank instead of quarantine. I honestly don't know how to do a quarantine tank without fear of it cycling and hurting the fish. I have an extra ten gallon for that reason, but ..... yeah.I am so sorry about all of your losses. That is so frustrating and sad![]()
