This is my first year in Maryland with the lemongrass so I am not sure if I will be bringing it in or not. In Texas I left it out year round and would insulate with straw in the winter but here I have no clue.
I'd pot it at the end of summer because I don't think it will make it. I wish mine wasn't so big but I just put it in my bathroom and it looks pretty crappy come spring but it looks great now. My son lives in Philadelphia and he can't even get rosemary to make it through the winter there even when he mulches it really well.

Yes, it is so pretty and it makes mine look like a slum! Because, actually it does look like a slum, but it's functional. Good thing that nobody can see it and there isn't anything behind us but fields, woods and various critters that cause havoc!
I work from home so I am always piddling outside and tending to the garden, ducks and chickens. My husband gets free heat treated John Deere pallets so we built garden boxes out of them. Then we lined our patio with French oak wine barrels (cut in half) from a vineyard my brother in law has partial ownership in (we got them cheap) for more garden space and with insect repellent plants. I need to get some lemon balm, I have never grown it but have heard wonderful things about it. He also built his quail pen out of the pallets and hardware cloth. That is how it is clean and neat, I am a piddler and cannot sit still for too long. Ha!

I've got a bunch of pallets in the barn that look pretty good. I need to build a small "drake jail" house out of them to go between the 2 pens I have now. I'll be putting the babies in the small pen and the big kids in the big pen. Luckily the babies are still in the garage.

That is a good idea for the pallets! My girls are seperated with 2 runners in the run for the time being. It is a real pain the you know what though, getting this duck here and that one there. I try to rotate the mature ladies so Leonard does not over-love any one of them. Let me know how that project goes because I might steal it. Ha!

I'm doing drake jail right now but since the little pen is not being used because the babies are still in the garage I'm putting "horn-dog" in the little pen by himself. I can already see a big improvement in my girl's necks in just these 2 days.

Good for you separating him before they got hurt bad. It amazes me how these cute drakes can be so rough. I had Leonard in the wire dog crate when he was in jail until the babies started interacting with the big girls. Now that is what the babies sleep in at night in the duck house so everyone can see but not touch.

that's a good idea, I've got a small dog crate that I could use within the pen for the babies if I am still having issues with Sambo.

onaharley just sent me a video and gave me a great idea for making dividers for situations like this. I've got my plan for tomorrow and I will start first thing after my coffee!
