Something got my two littlest last night

I am so heartbroken. I went put this morning to let everyone out.
Camilla and Pandora my d'uccle cochin mix that is hatched were gone I seen feathers and where the fence was pushed in
They are were their own coop because i was still intergrating them with my flock.
I've had all my chickens and ducks in this coop at one point or another for the last few years without issues

They were about 4 months old and very small. They were sweet and I loved them so much

Some say they are just chickens but i haven't stopped crying

I’m so sorry for your loss I know how it feels to lose a chicken, I’ve lost several at a time from foxes, raccoons, and hawks. Raccoons seem to be my biggest predator so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what got your two chickens.

Was having breakfast one day when a fox was chasing my 10 week old hen around the garden. By the time I ran out it was too late and the fox had taken the hen into the neighbours garden. Was thinking about breaking down the fence and chasing after the fox but my neighbour wouldn't be too happy. Found the rest of my chickens huddled up in the coop and I spent the rest of the day paranoid. A year on and I have taken every precaution when predator proofing. Fox has tried again but didn't succeed. Sorry for your loss

I am so sorry for your loss. I keep chickens as pets, so no, they are not "just chickens" to some of us.

Sometimes these poor fellers just don't know what to do for us when horribleness happens. I was inconsolable when the skunk got Stella and Deedee, and my hubby and daughter gave me hugs and "I'm so sorry," which was sweet and just about all anyone can do. Gramps was as upset as I but I didn't realize it til he was set up at a darkened, open window til midnight with a shotgun, watching and waiting til one of the live traps popped shut. :-o All his muttering about peeping and pooping chicks was long forgotten. Months later, my daughter said she'd busted him on several occasions sneaking them out of their tub at night for snuggles.
