Something has killed 4 of my ducks… what do I do???

please help. I am in tears this morning. I found my ducks dead with all of the skin, muscle, etc ripped from their necks ONLY. The heads and bodies are in tact and untouched. We let them free range during the day because we have a pond that they love to swim in and explore…. Which I know there is a risk we take in letting them free range during the day like that, but I don’t like keeping them cooped up all day every day. I heard them quacking like normal around 9am and now at 11am they are dead… I found them within about 20 feet of the pond…. What kind of predator could kill them like this???
Please help. I don’t know what to do…

sounds like a raccoon or a fox. seeing as it killed 4 id lean towards a coon.

Do they just leave the whole body and heads in tact like that? I just assumed they’d be killing them in order to eat them.

are there any certain traps you’d recommend? I’ve never had to trap any predators on the property, we have ever lost any ducks this way

coons will kill just to kill. there evil little a**s. i suggest a box trap with some tin foil and eggs in it.

Would they be out in the mornings around 9am?? I know we have them around, but I’ve never seen them in the mornings. I will definitely be getting traps

most definitely. yes there nocturnal but if there hungry they'll scavenge and if they run into an opportunity as they might have at your place they will make the best of it. its even possible the raccoon was sick... it very well could be something else as well but to me this is what it sounds like
