Something has killed 4 of my ducks… what do I do???

most definitely. yes there nocturnal but if there hungry they'll scavenge and if they run into an opportunity as they might have at your place they will make the best of it. its even possible the raccoon was sick... it very well could be something else as well but to me this is what it sounds like

If I catch one in the trap should I just go ahead and shoot it?

Mink will also kill like you described. So very sorry for your loss.

You are located in NC right? That’s where I am. Do we have mink/ weasels in this area? Have you ever had this happen to you?

I apologize this is so graphic, but this is one of the ducks. I just wanted to post a picture for reference.

Lots of feathers everywhere, so to me that’s an obvious fight. And then all that’s left on the next is just the spine.

I’m in Shelby, NC. So about 1.5-2hr drive from the mountains- like boone etc. I assume it would be possible for them to be here, but I’ve definitely never seen them or heard of them being around.

From all I have read is mink go for the throat. You should go to the predator and pest forum post your pictures and see what others say.
I looked up Mink in NC tried to put it here but it wont work.

Sorry for your loss, it's a hard way to learn about how destructive coons can be. I had a coon take ducklings from my pen during a sunny afternoon.
