Something in the egg?

Cracked open a relatively new egg from our chickens and dropped the insides into a clean bowl. Saw several red "things" that kind of look like small insects? Some on the yolk itself and two in the white. Any ideas?

Sounds like 'meat spots' - small bits of tissue from the reproductive tract that slough off and become encapsulated in an egg upon occasion.
