Something is scratching unde rmy house...

Maybe its a giant mole trying to break its way up into your house?

It could also be a hell mouth, with demons in it trying to break its way up into your house too?

Seriously,
Sounds like rodents. We had mice that did that. Drove us mad. We put some bait under there and a week later no more noise.

Don't let your imagination ruin a good night sleep over it, just go out and buy some poison.

P.S. rodents tend to come into houses during colder months for shelter. Then they are nice and warm and start breeding.

I will second that it's rodents. We get then in the walls of our house in the winter. Never mind that we have a bunch of cats! Those things are LOUD in the middle of the night...sound as big as a squirrel! Ignore them and the will go back out when it is warmer...or put down the poison...but be careful that no other critters can get into it--like your chickens! Terri O in WI with mice

OMG no talk of zombies and ghosts, we are pretty sure someone died in this house and we had a dog die under the house so my imagination is working. aah!!

Might be mice but holy crap it's loud! It sounds like a PERSON trying to get in! Last night we heard the same noises but they stopped after a few minutes. We did have a mouse problem before when my father lived here but he put poison down and havent seen any since. They definitely could have gone UNDER the house. Seriously though.... if it is mice I am shocked at how loud they are. Shocked. We can't put any poison down until we block off the hole because my dog occassionally goes under the house when he refuses to come in at night.

Oh I live in Ontario Canada by the way, no armadillos here, although they are cute, I wouldn't mind having some around.

sounds like the two possums I had living in my vents, they were planning to use it as a honeymoon suite til I put an end to it!!! Nasty critters!!

My house is up on stilts, and I have a terrible problem with squirrels. My pit has actually torn up the carpet in several areas trying to get to them. Since my house is up in the air, I mixed rat bait granules with peanut butter and smeared it up in one of their access holes. Cleared them out for a good while, but need to do it again. Those suckers are loud for a smaller rodent (and can do a LOT of damage).

Maybe your house is haunted by that dog....

I lived in a mobile home. We had a possum get into the floor under the tub. Crawled in a hole I could barely get my arm into. Hole was for plumbing the drain. He craweld in beside the pipe to stay warm. Very loud scratching and rubbing sounds. I could never catch him out. but when it warmed up I found the space in underpinning and fixed it. then coverd hole by pipe. No more probs. Might try a large live trap. only bot $30 at harbor freight. or call animal control. They are gonna ask if youve seen it. But they might let you barrow a trap for a couple days. Good luck!
P.s. possums are very ferroscious (or how ever you spell it. lol) when trapped or cornerd. and they have very sharp needle teeth. and are a well known carrier of rabies. sorry

I go for the possum too. We had one for about a year that we called Pete. Yep we named it, we have too many animals to put poison out. And at night he would waddle his fat butt out and eat cat food with the cats.

I say you stick your hand under there and grab it and pull it out so you can tell us what it is...
