Something is wrong with my Pekin hen

Like @Miss Lydia, I am concerned that she may be suffering calcium deficiency. Niacin deficiency is generally a gradual process - I would still boost the Niacin just in case, but she may need calcium supplementation.
This is good info too. @BreenaAndTony do you by chance have the bottle of calcium gluconate too that sits on the shelf right next to the niacin bottle at TSC?

Thanks everyone for all the help and info. I started her on the niacin and calcium as soon as I read of it. She started twitching yesterday. Every 3 seconds her head would bob to the side. I offered her water every 20 minutes until 12am when I fell asleep. I woke up at 6 and she was gone :hit:hit:hit:hitmy kids are devastated. How can I prevent this from happening to my other ducks?

Sorry for your loss...:hugs

So very sorry for your loss :hugs

If this was a calcium def about all you can do is offer oyster shell and watch for signs of def. Pekins and other breeds are laying machines and can most likely get depleted pretty easy. So either we offer extra calcium supplementation as a deterrence or we wait for a sign and then offer it. That is up for debate but if mine I'd watch closely. Hard to know for sure what killed your duck with out a necropsy. We can only guess by what symptoms you shared and what we have experienced ourselves. Bless your kids and you it's a hard thing to lose one of our pets.
