We had a chicken that got attacked by our neighbor's dog today. The dog didn't do too much damage, he just bit her in her rump. We cleaned her with an antimicrobial wash and put some neosporin on the bites.
On her rump, she has a patch with missing feathers and a couple of small wounds. She also has this fleshy, conical thing sticking out at the very tip of her rump where her tail feathers would start. It's sticks out about a cm and there is no blood around the fleshy thing. My husband thinks this is from that attack and is worried, but I don't see how it is since there is no blood around it.
Given that this is our first time with chickens and have not defeathered a chicken, can someone tell me is this is normal anatomy or something we need to address?
