In case the breeds he is are known for crown problems?

Thank you. I love him. I will try to order or find Blu-kote if I can. A friend told me about it when I was introducing a young rooster to the flock ( thought it was a hen but nope, rooster.)He's a stunning rooster. If the bites appear to be infected, oozing, try painting Blu-kote on them. It will help them to heal.
That is interesting, the gnats suffocating the chickens. Sad, but interesting. I am in southeast Georgia, US. Predators picked my guineas off. We only found 4 decapitated bodys, raccoons got them. One got eaten in the night. Wouldn't go in the coop. One was squaking one minute, the next vanished into thin air. One got eaten by a snake, the other 2 vanished a few days after I put them outside. And we got rid of one because the flock was about to kill him. Thank you, I was quite sad when I lost them. Thanks, I am very happy to be part of BYC, and I also hope my flock thrives now. I am worried about the HPAI though. There was a gnat problem a couple years back in the US that was suffocating the chickens they invaded!
What country are you in? Why did you lose that many guinea fowl?
Sorry for those losses! Welcome to BYC, I hope your flock continues to thrive!![]()

Thank you! He is such a sweet boy. Born September 2021. Hates every one but me.He's handsome

I wonder if you could put desitin or aquaphor or something like that on his combI have noticed my roosters crown having black dots on it. It has little chunks out of it from gnats biting it. I will get a picture of him later if I can. He also has little bits of white going through all the crevices in his crown. Please help! I am worried they might also be mites along with the gnats. He rubs his crown against me trying to get it all off. He acts normal but I want him to be happy and comfortable.
