Something's wrong with Sunny! HELP!

The alleged benefit from raw apple cider comes partially from the live bacteria in it. Pasteurized and filtered apple cider vinegar isn't really that much different from plain white vinegar with a splash of apple juice in it.

While I'm not sold on the idea that it works (based on research and the biology involved - I can elaborate on the science if anybody is interested), I still give some to our ducks because there isn't much risk in adding it to their water and it's pretty cheap to buy.

Just be careful with how much you put in their water. Concentrated vinegar of any type (food vinegar is generally 5%) can cause chemical burns. I put about a tablespoon in about 6-7 quarts of water.

Ohh....I just checked Sunny, and her bone is sticking out. She'll mouth her food but won't eat it....what do I do?! She's starting to look really skinny now.

Ughhh...I just figured out Sunny's just being a horrible picky eater. I offered her romaine lettuce with shredded squash, and she ate it like she hasn't eaten in days....literally. She's done this before...2 months ago her favorite food was chicken scratch, she eventually stoped eating that...and suddenley ate the layer like mad. Now she's tired of the layer, and wants her greens, which she never ate before! She's now picking at the fresh grass and nibbling everything green in sight...she's NEVER done that before. Maybe because she's eggnant she's cravy different foods? Sigh....ducks...you'll never understand them completely.

Ducks can get bored of foods over time. We mix things up constantly so they don't suddenly get bored of all of their food. Right now Victor and Ming Mei decided that they don't like cracked corn anymore and Norie decided koi food isn't for her (which makes Moxy very happy because she gets to eat Norie's share. hehehe)

Make sure she's getting enough protein and calcium in her diet - she'll need plenty to continue laying eggs. You can try boiling one of her eggs then chopping it up and feeding it to her. Sounds weird having a duck eat something that came out of them, but it contains the exact nutrients in the correct ratios to support healthy egg laying!

I gave her some romain lettuce and frozen feeder fish. She ate both very eagerly. Does anyone know where I can get quality layer feed for cheap?

You can try all types. Mana Pro has both feed and Calf Mana, both work except the feed is in 5lb bags and only good as a supplement. We feed both Dumor and Layena and the occasional Seminole Feed. Depending on where you go here it ranged between $12 and $14 per 50lb bag. We do use the Mana Pro as a supplement too. We also cycle between the crumble and pellets to keep it different for our birds.

LOL we vary between Dumor (although we're trying to get away from it), Layena, and ADM (Pen Pals).

We're mixing Layena crumbles with Pen Pals EggMaker Pellets. Everyone is being picky, but we still add the MannaPro Poultry Conditioner supplement. They also get scraps of food, veggies, fruits.....

I would see if giving Sunny her eggs scrambled would make a difference. We had a Rouen that LOVED to eat duck/chicken egg shells....it was funny because we would put them in the coop and she would cart them away and eat them.

I'm sorry she's being so picky!!!! Have you wormed her by any chance??
