somewhat broody muscovy **UPDATE

So, we are 1 week in and the only time she gets off the nest is when she hears the geese making a fuss because I'm bringing out feed. She does NOT like it when I take a look in at her. I need to count the eggs tomorrow just to see how many are in there. Looks like hatch could be as early as 11/30. We have had 2 freezes since she started setting so I'm still a little concerned. I am looking forward to babies though. Wasn't expecting December ducklings. Crazy muscovy.

Exciting news, As long as she has a cozy place to hatch and keep them out of the weather they should be fine, unless she has 25-30 eggs under her then she may have a problem keeping them all warm. Keep us updated!!

Well, here she is yelling at me for looking at her.


She is sitting on 22 eggs

and since I didn't mark them, I decided to go ahead and leave them all under her. She seems to be doing a good job of covering them. I think I will die if the majority hatch. I am looking forward to what colors they will be. The drake is mostly black but I don't know what colors the parents of these two were. I've played a bit with a color calculator to see what I may get and I'm hoping that they won't all be black and white.
