we have a duck that is panting, has watering eyes that are dialated/glazing over, can't stand, has stiffing body with legs out behind her. Her head shakes and she seems like she's in shock. (not all there). She doesn't react to anyone walking up to her, to pick her up. In her normal state she wouldn't allow this. Put her in the water and her legs stayed stiff outwards. Tried to get her to drink water as her beak is VERY hot and she wont. She's housed with 7 other ducks (one male). She was fine 2 hours ago, came home and found her laying on ground panting with legs laying outward underneath her.

Any suggestions on what's wrong or could be wrong would be highly appreciated and my family very thankful.

She is 6 months old. I haven't seen her laying but I assume she is, as I go out and collect several eggs a day from the pen.

That does not sound good. Take her temperature by putting your hands under her wings. Not very scientific, I know , but that's the only way I know to take a duck's temperature.

So you could possibly be dealing with any of this things:

Egg binding (as desertdarlene's suggested)
In which case, you should do Epsom salt baths and add liquid Calcium Gluconate (from Farm Store) 1-2 T to gallon, layer feed, basically all the calcium and vitamin supplements you can give her.

But you could also be dealing with poisons, or a toxin, or even hardware disease. Not to mention bacterial or viral illnesses. The good news is ducks are normally not quite as sensitive to bacterias like chickens are. What is the drinking water like? I'm thinking possibly botulism, due to the season and temperatures and what sounds to me like neurological symptoms. In that case, I would do a charcoal flush, and you can find directions by search box here.

But if it's egg binding, the charcoal might stress her unnecessarily. I guess we need more info to help. Like:
What's the environment, food, water, diet

This is crazy. I just went to check on her. (I had put her in a med. size cage we have.) She looks completely normal. Her eyes are normal now, she's not panting. She had her legs up under her. She started to quack as I got near and she even got up and walked around. I am baffled.

I feed Dumor crumbles, some scratch. They get fresh veggies.

Our pond is down right now. (need a new liner) So I have 2 swimming pools set up for them. I change the water daily on the little pool and the bigger one every few days. Hope these details help.
