Son returning from Iraq

Congratulations! I'm sure you will sleep much better once he is within the boundaries of our wonderful country.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what was he doing over there? Standard military deployments were extended from 12 months to 15 months a little while ago, so 7 months seems like a strange duration.

I've got a sister and brother-in-law out there in the sandbox right now. I'm hoping they come back safely

Give him his favorite meal when he comes back. I'm sure he's looking forward to good food, friends, family, and relaxation.

Kim, I know how excited you are! Congratulations. Tell him hello from one military person to another. My DH spent his entire career in the Air Force, and before that, he was in the National Guard and before that, as a kid, Civil Air Patrol. His dad was in the Air Force, my dad was in the Navy and my mom was a Marine, believe it or not.

CONGRATS!!!!! I also send my kisses, hugs and thanks to him AND your family. OUr daughter and son-in-law are being deployed sometime between Oct. and March to Afghanistan and Iraq. We will be taking their children while they are away. It will be sad and nervous waiting for their safe return, but wonderful having the grandchildren here.

Royicus, my son is a Marine and they deploy for 7 months, I'm not sure I could handle the deployments the Army families have to endure.

I did get the most wonderful gift at 4 this morning, my son im'd me, of course the 'puter is always on just in case anyway I was typing away and Adam types can you see me now? I'm thinking to myself ok the Iraq heat has really gotten to him, all of a sudden he was there on a web cam

I almost fell off my chair I got so excited, DH comes running out of the bedroom thinking I have lost it since I'm yelling there's Adam, there's Adam. He looked so wonderful, the first time I've seen him since Jan 20th, this is the first time in 2 deployments he was able to do that so I was so shocked.

Well thankyou all again for your kind thoughts and wishes and if anyone knows a breeder around 29 Palms or Paso Robles let me know, if their cows are happy in CA then their chickens must be too.

That depends upon who you work for. The standard deployment for the Air Force is 4 months, Navy and Marines go for 7 months, and the Army is 12 months...
