Some time ago I ran across some music from Laos/ Northeast Thailand. Really appreciated the sounds that were generated by their hand made instruments. Further research led me to seek out and purchase one of these instruments. It is a seung lute. Made from a single piece of wood. The frets are glued onto the neck. The strings are steel cables from bicycle brake cables. There are 4, but tuned as double strings like on a mandolin, or a 12 string guitar. Gave good dolar$ for it with NO REGRETS. . Here is a pix
