Happy Holidays! Your knowledge of music is impressive. Wondering about your flute, my brother acquired a native american style flute made by Tommy Lee who also performs I believe. Have you heard of him?

Not familiar with Tommy Lee. There are many really good flute makers around. I follow this flute maker on Ebay (as well as others). . He makes fine instruments.

Carlos Nakai Is a Native Flute player I consider the, "Father of Modern Native American Flute Music." This is just my own opinion. I have many of his CD's. I attended one of his concert performances a few years ago. Here is a link to more about him.

Here is a pix of most of my collection. Most are concert tuned in various keys. G-minor, A-minor, Low-D, and other. A couple are tuned to what is referred to as "tuned to self" . Some call these as "poorly tuned, or
un-tuned,or mis-tuned." I still find it interesting to play. Only problem that would arise is if being played with other traditional instruments.
My choice tuning is G minor Pentatonic scale. I have played it as part of ceremony for Son's and also Daughter's weddings. Solo playing in Actual Ceremony, and not entertainment music at reception.

That depends what you consider hand made. Most do use power tools and sanders.
I have made a few flutes, and will make some more as hobby time allows. The BEST one I made (beautiful and good sound) I gifted to someone that got into flute playing after hearing me play. A gift has to be sincere and from the HEART. It was also unconditional. (meaning, do with it whatever you please). He learned to play quite well. He also acquired other flutes since.
Below is a picture that was posted on Native American Flute Forum. A group I belong to and subscribe. It portrays in a funny way what flute makers are faced with when they build one and it does not tune properly. Tuning is done before the finishing. If the hole placement, or hole sizing or other things such as sound hole is not correct, there is little to correct that. It is not ME at this campfire.

Here is one I may have posted before, It is really soothing sound.

This is a very common melody played by many Native Flute players.
It is not exclusive to this performer. Most likely goes back to the original Zuni tribe. I do enjoy playing it as well.

It ended and I felt rather sad. It's so calming and puts me in a good place. I'd love to fall asleep to flute music like that every night. Do you have a recommendation?
