Sooner’s Ducks (And Chickens)

Yup! We currently have 22 on my property. 6 are our own personal horses. The rest are quarantine/boarding horses that were rescued from kill pens and auction houses.
Omg, I love people who rescue animals! Thank you so much for rescuing them! I bet they are super happy. I rescued this chicken:

His name is Cookie Crumbles. This was his first day at my house. See his feet, they were terrible! They look a lot better now. He used to live with 15 other roosters, I have had him for about 5 months now, it doesn’t even seem that long. He used to be so scared of humans, if he barely noticed you, h was gone in a flash. He loved my hen and came over every day to see her. So I had a 6 foot long cage I opened the door to, and put my hen in a smaller cage, and he walked in and I ran over there and shut the door. Now, he follows me around like a puppy dog!

Welcome SoonersDucks!

You don’t need to clad the whole coop in hardware cloth. A 4ft roll around the bottom will work unless you have bears or something like that. Also a hot wire 4-6” off the ground and/or a buried skirt/flange of HW cloth will help protect from diggers and rippers. A lot depends on your predator pressure and on your risk tolerance.

Hope you have a great time hanging out here and enjoying your flock!
