Lots of talk about SOP and that it only applies to exhibition quality poultry.
There are some strains that lack production traits to concentrate on fine points for shows.
There are poor breeders raising farm flocks.
Pages 28 and 29 discuss how to evaluate the shape among other traits that all applies to production.
If one doesn’t study the information use it or ignore those pages the SOP should not have to be blamed for poor quality production.
Just saying know both sides of story before taking cheap shots.

Agreed!
A pet peeve of mine is when a bird is severely lacking in traits, and people still classify it as a certain breed.
Imagine a single barred, pink-skinned, rose comb rooster.
Someone says ‘Dominique’!
I say no, he has only one barring copy and pink skin.
They say ‘he’s just low quality, still a Dominique though.’
Arrrgh. No he isn’t.
