Sore hot foot!!!

I was dreading going down to the coop this morning but was thrilled to see my marans' foot looking a little better this morning. She is still keeping weight off it for the most part but is putting it down, and it feels less warm than yesterday and the day before.

I tried bending the toes to find any breaks but there was nothing obvious. The blue area is smaller and limited now to one toe.

Seems it probably is just bruising from something - possibly a bad jump down from a perch. She is a very big, clumsy hen!

Feeling very much more optimistic this morning, but will be keeping my eye on her.

Here is a picture of the foot this morning (should have got the same angle as last time) but it shows the blue area is much smaller. Also one of the bottom of her foot for those of you who know what you are looking for!

Thanks everyone.

You have a chicken with a sprained toe. I have only seen this twice, but it was exactly the same. 1 got her toe stuck in the crate(nest) she getting out of and got hung upside down by her toe. The second actually tripped over a paving stone when she was running up through the yard for a treat. She got focused on the treat bucket and just tripped right over the stone. Both were fine.

Your Hen should be fine in a couple days.

Can anyone advise me? I have a chicken who's using only one leg and has 2 toes that are blue ( like in the pictures earlier on this post. My camera's software isn't working so I'm posting here to give you an idea of what it looks like). Her middle toe is blue and swollen also. She was hopping on one foot only for 2 days. I brought her inside today and put her in a small pen and washed her foot in a saltwater solution and then dipped it in hydrogen peroxide a few times. I'm thinking it's a staph infection or some kind of infection that may have gotten into a cut in between her toes. I don't see a cut anymore, but its swollen there. I'm thinking I should give her antibiotics immediately, but not sure what to get (oral or topical) and how to know how much to give one chicken. Any help is appreciated.
