sore next to eye, please help

I have a 3 month old orpington cock with a what looks like a blister next to his eye. I am very new to chickens (about 2 wks) and am not sure how to proceed. Should I treat with an iodine solution, an ointment, or just wait and see. Please any suggestions would be helpful.

I have heard on BYC that neosporin oitment won't hurt next to the eye.

Couldn't hurt?
