My rooster has a large comb that flops to the side. On the underside, I just found what looks like a yellow, crusty kind of sore. I don't know how long it's been there. Any ideas what it is, or how I can treat it?

Edit: On a side note, I'm also attaching a different picture of his comb. I've been afraid he's getting frostbite, which is why I was examining it in the first place. Does it look like frostbite on the tips?

I do think there is some mild frostbite on the tips of the comb. I don’t do anything for a mild case. Some have recommended Mushers Secret cream on combes, since it doesn’t freeze like vaseline would. The yellow material under the comb could be some gunky infection that might benefit with some cleaning out with a disinfectant or aoap and water. I would bring him inside to do that though, so it doesn’t cause more frost bite.
