Michael Josephson, of the Josephson Institute of Ethics, tells a story that goes something like this:

A man gave a hundred dollars to a woman who told a long, sad story about her baby having cancer and how she had no money for treatments.

When he got home, his son said what a sucker he was, and how he didn't know if this was really true. That night on the news, there was a story about a con woman who used her baby to bilk money out of strangers, and it was the same woman. The son called his father and said "Didn't we tell you, Dad? The woman stole your money. Sorry about the bad news." The father answered "This is great news! It means that the baby doesn't have cancer."

Viewed this way, this is good news. There are no dead babies.

Very profound. Thank you for putting it in that perspective.

Unfortunately this seems to be part of life. I see stuff like this almost every day at work.

Geesch what were we-like maybe three weeks out from bogus money requests b/c "Sam" lost his job b/c he had to spend time at the hospital or insurance didnt cover all the expenses?
Just send paypal to blah blah blah.com?
Well its done now.
And what you put out there in the Universe you will get back and in greater force. Good news for most of us...bad news for people who do bad things.
I am sorry for the pain caused to the BYC members. Please take comfort in how caring, compassionate, and giving so many of you are. Dont let one bad egg spoil anything for you. For everyone in true need-we are right here. There's a lot of love and goodness on this board.
Bless you all~
