2 of my 3 month olds are mostly solid black. They won't hold still long enough to get a pic. They have turquoise trim around their back feathers and some gold on their chests. What are they? What kind of eggs will they lay?

Black Copper Marans? Black Sexlinks? Those are the only breeds I can think of that are black with gold on their chest. If they are BCM they will lay a chocolatey color egg, and if the are BSL they will lay brown.

What gets me is the turquoise... Is that like a sheen from the light or actual color??

Many breeds it could be. Without a picture (even a bad one) I can't even guess. All black feathered creatures will have a blue-green metallic sheen to their feathers. Based solely on your description, look at black sex links.

Thanks again. I know the brown one is an EE, and cant wait for blue eggs! It's the blackish ones that confuse me. If you look at them in the correct angle they turn blue. Wierd, eh?

I'm assuming you know that the gold one is an EE. But you're talking about the 2 black ones, that snuck halfway out of the picture?

If so, then you have BSL. One of mine is almost completely black as well, and every once in a while at the right angle she looks blue.

sounds like a black sexlink or black star it will be a black copper maran if it has feathered legs?
