Hello. I have a 1 year old Belgium D’uccle bantam. Today I noticed she had a large mass on her leg. She is eating and acting normally. She sometimes bears weight on it.

I soaked her and removed as much of the scabs and feathers as I could. The infection is up her entire leg as it is swollen all the way up.

I believe it was from an impacted feather follicle that got infection.

Has anyone experienced this? Looking for advice as we don’t have vets who see poultry. I’ve ordered antibiotics, but they won’t be here for a week.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Poor Girl! She sure is cute.

Could also be due to SLM, hard to tell.
What antibiotic did you order?

I'd start out by cleaning the area really well with Povidone Iodine or Chlorhexidine. Inspect to see if there's any other impacted follicles that perhaps need to be teased out of the skin.
Apply triple antibiotic ointment.

Keep in mind this may not be an impaction or SLM, possible it's some type of cancer.

I'll tag in @azygous @Eggcessive to see if they have any suggestions.
