Soundproofing a henhouse

I'm keeping stealth chickens since we're not allowed to keep them, too. BUT, I asked all my nearest neighbors before we got them and they were all fine with it. Your best bet is keep the number of chickens to a minimum and build a fence. So many people are so ignorant about chickens, if they don't see them they won't know what that strange sound is...... They really do need to be able to go outside and be chickeny, though. They'll be happier and you'll get more enjoyment watching them dig and graze.

Well we will be getting dogs first this year and rabbits next (gonna be hard to butcher rabbits, but my father's first job was slaughtering livestock, so I think I will just suck it up). I will hold on the silkies for awhile and read more about the trials and tribulations of other secret chicken owners on here before I make any move.

It sure is weird that my town has no problem with me butchering rabbits and keeping loud dogs, but will fine me if I have a couple chickens for some fresh eggs. People are strange, and maybe my neighbors will be more understanding about the chickens once they realize how loud rabbits can be when they are unhappy.

Dear Urbanfarmeete, look up the effects of morning glory seeds. Planting morning glories around the coop might be just the thing of the future. The seeds from morning glory plants can produce a psychedelic high much like taking LSD. Also called ololiugui by the 16th-century Indians, the seeds of the morning glory plant produce a hallucinogenic effect when ingested.

Chickens
are entertaining in themselves but on an acid trip, now that’s taking things to new level. I want video. I wonder if it will make them think they can fly and jump off the coop roof. What if it produces tripp’in eggs now there’s a thought, I’m thinking $20 a dozen here with no scrambling effect on the mind.

Ok - I am new to this site. i do not know if it is connected to the FB backyard chickens or not....but I am about in tears. We have 2 Rhode Island Reds (hens) they are 5 months old. The issue I am having is they are extremely loud. Every morning (one of the especially) screeches for 2 hours or more. The sound is overwhelming. I am so very afraid that the neighbors will report us and we will be forced to get rid of them. - I ask on the FB page for someone to PLEASE tell me how i can build a sound proof wall around out coop so I can at least block the noise until they calm down. - This has nothing to do with the egg laying...their celebrating doesn't last but a few moments. If some can PLEASE PLEASE tell me how i can build a wall around them - one i can move or open up once they calm down ..I would be so grateful. and i'm a poor person so hopeful it wont cost tons.
THANK YOU

positive..they lay eggs... they are not crowing they are clucking and screeching. once they calm down they are fine.

I really just need to figure out how to keep the quieter in the morning or how to build some type of soundproof fence around their home. They are wonderful birds, I really dont want to lose them - it would break my heart. We brought them inside and placed them in a large dog cage with food, water and a sleeping box, for a few nights. one of the girls had an egg today and i just happened to walk into the room. it broke my heart. she was so sad and didn't do her normal celebration. so they need to be outside!!!!!! i want them happy

i guess im really confused. i wasn't asking for a wall to keep them quiet. i saw other post on here about building soundproof homes for roosters.. and tons of people jumped right in to offer advice. all im getting is......so far...no help. i don't know why im begging for help and no one wants to help me. so i guess if i had a rooster, everyone would want to help. im just in tears now. never mind
