Sour Crop/Impacted Crop?

Hello All,

I am looking for some quick advice. Our 2 year old Amerucana hen we noticed was being sluggish today. Upon closer examination, we noticed that she has a very full, dense liquid feeling crop and she is thin. She is out foraging in the yard with the rest of the flock as she does every day, still seeming to eat.

I don't know if she is impacted or has sour crop or what, but I am confused about the different treatment options and looking for some guidance on what to do.

Symptoms: Sluggish, full liquid/sludgy crop (but not hard), thin.

If someone could give me some advice on what we could do for her ASAP that would be soooo appreciated!

If the chicken has sour crop...there will normally be a rancid smell from the breath...you can open the beak of the chicken and the smell will be apparent:::sour crop normally is treated by turning the chicken over and massaging the crop from bottom to top...for maybe 5 seconds at a time....the idea being to get the chicken to vomit the contents of the crop

For impacted crop...try a little olive oil soaked in bread...

It is very important to distinguish between the symptoms and different treatments for these ailments...

My chicken I currently believe she's has sour crop. She has smelly watery pops also I have induced vomiting several times over the past few days and it is quite green ive given her various chicken cupboard concoctions and still she seems very poorly she has been eating but very little and will walk very slow and is always closing her eyes and has droopy wings and likes to stay in a ball almost. She has not been laying nor roosting just staying in the corner of her coop. I dint know what else to do her crop looks ok now. She's also growing new feathers around the top of her neck and the roots seem kind of purple to blueish colour still in casings is this normal. I hope she will be ok. I've given her Epson salt water. Red wine. Natural yog. Spices and lemon. Laxatives olive oil. Painkillers but she only really had bits of each over the past few days. I keep thinking she will be gone each morning when I check her but she seems only the tiniest bit better since 3 days ago. Any suggestions?
