Sour crop in little chick??

I was looking at a diagram of the digestive system....if the blockage is in her proventriculus, would any of the above measure help anyway?

If it's a small blockage then flushing through the fluids may help. Like I said before, if it's a substantial blockage I'm afraid that you are prolonging the inevitable. There have been several home remedies put forward on this thread but you really need a diagnosis in order to give the correct treatment. That will be hard without having a vet to take this chick to. Did you call the vet back that failed to call you? Where do you live?

I'm sorry to report that little Pearl was dispatched to chicken heaven last night. She just wasn't getting any better at all, despite our efforts.

I'm sorry to hear about your chick. It could have been that her crop just would not function or that there was a problem lower down. Did you try to look inside the crop to find out what was blocking it inside. Sometimes doing a partial necropsy can help you know what to do if it happens again. Crop surgery is done by some on here to pull out contents that won't go through, and there are many threads to read about it. You sure tried hard enough to help her. RIP little Pearl.

I really thought about looking, but just couldn't do it. My husband used a .22 pistol, and I couldn't bear to look. If we hadn't been going to church right after, I think my daughter would've done it (necropsy). That stuff doesn't bother her. (She got her first deer this year, and helped gut it and butcher it.)
