Sour crop - need dosing for miconazole ASAP

The human medications are labeled as such because taking the medication orally will not help a vaginal yeast infection. And frankly, a lot of people are stupid. That's why there are warning labels on everything. You need to get the antifungal where the yeast is. In this case in the crop.

All of those "zole" family of medications are nearly the same antifungal. Many people have successfully used the OTC versions especially when vet care for a chicken is not an option. Vet prescribed meds may be more pure but this works too. It does not harm the chickens as there is nothing toxic to the chickens in the cream.
That’s the only way it’s working on my chicken is by mouth! People also need to look and make sure they are giving the 2% not the .4%, because I made that mistake and it was taking too long for me to see her getting better and that’s when I realized I was giving the .4%. When I started giving the 2% I saw her getting better within the next day!

Anyone give this as a suppository? How’d you get the hen to eat it?

This thread is old, but yes...you can give in suppository form, dosing is in the article below.

To give, have your dose ready. Pull down on the wattles of the bird to open the beak, put the medication in the beak and let go of the wattles so the bird can swallow it. Just like you'd give a pill.
