Four days ago, my 2-year old Red Star, Pee Wee Reese, was lethargic, not eating, had liquid poo w/only white stuff (ureates), and had a squishy water-balloon crop. I followed as much of Threehorses's advice as I could (probiotics, applesauce, boiled egg yolk, massaging the crop downwards, etc.). After two days, she was active and eating. For the last two days, she has had normal poos. Yesterday, her crop was close to normal; today it's back to squishy--though not as big.
Is this a relapse?
Is this a sign that the crop stasis is a symptom of an underlying problem?
She is my best layer and hasn't laid through the whole ordeal (and maybe a day or two before), but she doesn't "seem" egg bound. She did sit on the nest for a while this morning squawking like a banshee with no result. But she's not "sitting like a penguin" or breathing hard and I can't feel anything that seems like an egg in her abdomen (though she is not holding still for me much). And the poos are normal.
I'm continuing the applesauce/probiotic/yogurt/egg yolk supplements.
What else should I be looking for?
Any thoughts MUCH appreciated!!!
